Hydrochloric acid (HCl) and the proteolytic enzyme pepsin that are secreted in the stomach, and the pancreatic enzymes (amylase, lipase, and protease) secreted from the pancreas into the small intestine are essential for digestion and absorption of nutrients from the food we eat. Interactions: B.P.P. should not be used concurrent with H2-blocking drugs and proton pump inhibitors because these drugs are intended to block the production of stomach HCl.
Additional Warnings: B.P.P. is contraindicated in patients with peptic ulcers. Do not remove the B.P.P. powder from the capsule to take orally, as it can be irritating to the oral mucosa.
